Graphix

I recently took a swing at creating my own concert posters. My expectations were low and I didn’t know the “rules,” but, having been a collector for decades, I took inspiration and motivation from the classic 60s-era San Francisco art that has decorated my office walls for years.

I love the classic posters of San Francisco’s Avalon Ballroom and Fillmore Auditorium, created by iconic artists like Alton Kelley, Rick Griffin, Stanley Mouse, Wes Wilson and my favorite, Victor Moscoso. I also have a taste for more modern pieces from Emek, “Misisipi” Mike Wolf, Frank Kozik and Zoltron.

Below are a few of the mash-ups I created in my graphics studio, “Silvertone Exploits.”

NOTE: These are demos. None of these shows are real. They never happened. About half the bands are simply made up, too. Some posters, though, are partly based on real shows. Go figure.
